MEDICAL
SERVICES
Licensed physicians
and nurses provide quality medical services. The medical department
is responsible for coordinating the patient's health care with therapy
and the dispensing of methadone. Professional medical care assures
JBRC patients a full range of preventive and early detection for
the management of such conditions as pregnancy, Hepatitis B/C, sexually
transmitted diseases, TB and HIV.
Providing 24
hour coverage affords our residential patients with emergency access
to care as well as ongoing evaluation for illnesses and injuries.
A comprehensive
physical and history is conducted upon admission as well as annually.
Lab tests include, but are not limited to, SMA 12, CBC, RPR, UA,
and pregnancy tests. HIV counseling and testing is provided to all
admissions and their families. Psychiatric evaluations and ongoing
psychotherapy are made available to patients on an as needed basis.
The Nursing
Unit provides medical seminars for patients and staff, keeping everyone
updated on the latest developments and research affecting medical
care in drug treatment and HIV/AIDS health care.
JBRC offers patients
a comprehensive HIV program for prevention, early detection, intervention,
risk/harm reduction, and case management.
